Thank you for taking a moment to drop by and learn more about who I am and what I do.
I'm Laura, mum of twins, wife, dog mom, sister, auntie, friend, and mentor. Oh, and I'm also a Civil Celebrant who has been privileged to have been part of so many beautiful life occasions these past few years. From weddings and vow renewals to celebrations of life, I'm honoured to have been personally chosen as the Celebrant for each and every one.
So what is a Civil Celebrant I hear you ask?
Simply put I'm someone who celebrates life and all of its beauty, from birth and new beginnings to the loss of our loved ones. I write and deliver personalised, bespoke, celebration ceremonies, no AI or cut and paste, purely from the heart and delivered with love (and a little humour of course!).
What makes me right for the Celebrant role?
Life experience is what makes me the Celebrant I am today I feel. Like you, I've loved, lost loved ones, and bought lives into the world, all of which were occasions to celebrate and be thankful. I've been lucky in that in the past, I had a career where I could see the benefit of what I did and how my actions helped people and that's always driven me. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Florence Nightingale (which is a good job because I have a terrible bedside manner!) but I've always thrived on being part of something that makes people feel good and life just that little bit better.
So Laura, why did you become a Civil Celebrant?
Well, I'm glad you asked that. I met my first Celebrant at my aunt's funeral in 2021, a wonderful soul who had supported our family on occasions before then. She drew me in with such compassion in the short 30 minutes that we had in the chapel that I genuinely had a 'moment' and knew from then on that this was something that I wanted to seriously pursue. My previous 20-year career was drawing to a close at the time and I truly believe that this was the universe's way of showing me my next pathway...
So I went and immersed myself in training and LOTS of personal development and began to practice shortly after with my very first ceremony being the wedding of my stepson to his fiancee. How amazing is that! From there on I've enjoyed a natural transition into funeral celebrancy which I'm honoured to say has accepted me with love and open arms.
What are my qualities?
Now this question always feels difficult to answer, but only because you never really blow your own trumpet do you? What makes me the Celebrant I am are the foundations I've built and the skills I've nurtured along the way. I'm an accomplished public speaker with a history of creative writing, and my theatrical and performance background does help in a ceremony scenario. But most importantly I've lived and experienced life and with comes the ability to truly understand people.
Where do I practice?
My central location is perfect as it gives me access to practice across Coventry, Warwickshire, and the surrounding areas. However, I can and do travel further afield If I'm asked to so feel free to request my services be needed somewhere a little warmer that you have to get to by airplane!
Right then, enough about me as I'm sure you're here for more important reasons such as your search for the perfect Celebrant for your ceremony (which is me by the way!).
So please feel free to take a look around and get in touch...
Big love
